Sacred Pleasures received some awesome coverage in Time Out London magazine in August 2012 after Claire introduced one of its journalists to Ecstatic BDSM. The adrenaline rush was scored 9/10, with terror factor only 3/10. See, we’re not scary really. You can read the full text below.
Oliver Keens samples an experience that really takes things to the edge. Then keeps on going… Bondage and discipline, sadism and masochism. Pursuits seldom get more extreme than the erotic, sometimes painful acts that fall under the term BDSM. Yet the hardest part of trying it for the first time is telling people you actually quite enjoyed it.
The brand of ‘ecstatic BDSM’ that Claire Black practices isn’t for everyone. A smart, young ‘pro domme’ (or professional dominatrix, ie a bringer of pain), her aim is to make endorphins surge around your body via the use of canes, leather floggers and other exotic instruments.
I opt out of any restraining or biting, and make my knobbly bits off-limits, but that still leaves plenty of scope for Claire to get to work. Blindfolded and armed with a codeword in case of panic I learn new things about my body. Nipples come to life after some whacking from a sharp cane. It turns out too that I quite like being treated like a piece of sirloin being tenderised, while the pain is balanced by a rub down with a piece of fur or even a hug.
You may get funny looks evangelising BDSM to friends, but to hell with it. The adrenaline rush is palpable and lasts far longer than that bus ride home.
