Winter Hook-Pull, January 2011

London Faerie at Winter Hook-Pull 2011It was a beautiful bunch of people, the energy was palpable when you walked through the door. It felt like a ritual, that we were doing something really special together and that is what I loved the most. I knew I was in a safe container with people creating magic. – Sarah

The ritual was sacred and supportive, there was a welcoming atmosphere and no pressure to do anything we didn’t feel comfortable with. The event had a natural flow and I was able to come down gently and quietly once it felt like the right time for me. - Anon

I was so ready to push myself, open up and make a change. It was exactly what I needed to mark the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. – Claire

On Saturday 8th January 2011 an amazing group of 21 participants came together for a Winter Hook-Pull at our beautiful venue The Pot.

The Hook-Pull is an exhilirating experience inspired by “primitive” rites and ceremonies held around the world – in particular Thaipusam. The participants received piercings in their chests and/or backs, and some also received cheekspears and third-eye piercings. Each person worked individually to begin with, testing and expanding their body’s limits as they pull on their hooks. Then gradually people connected and groups formed, allowing this powerful energy to grow as it was shared.

This magnificent ritual was led by Yossie Silverman, an outstanding piercer and shaman who’s received in-depth training from Fakir Musafar, grandfather of the Modern Primitives movement.
