Shibari (Japanese rope bondage) is a beautiful, intricate form of sexual expression. As the rope binds the body, the person being tied is able to let go of control fully and surrender to the moment. For the person tying, the rope becomes both a tool of domination and a form or artistic expression.
Santi will teach you the techniques needed to tie a number of traditional Shibari binds, from simple chest harnesses to complex hog ties. You will also learn the basic ropecraft involved in this discipline, giving you the skills necessary to explore shibari on your own, and create your own positions and explore the detailed knotwork involved.
Santi’s comprehensive knowledge of ropecraft allows expansion beyond just traditional Shibari, taking the best from Eastern and Western bondage. Santi will patiently guide you through the basics of Shibari, utilising a number of ways to demonstrate and explain the techniques until you completely understand the hows and whys.

Santi offers private Shibari classes at The Place With No Name in Stratford for small groups of 2 – 6 people. These bespoke classes allow you to create a syllabus with Santi, ensuring that you learn what you want to at your own pace with people you are comfortable with. Classes cost £480 for 6 hours tuition. About Santi: Santi has been studying ropecraft for the past 26 years, from historical decorative maritime and traditional Chinese knotwork through to industrial rigging and even rope-based Wushu weapons. It was only a matter of time before he started tying people up, and he has been teaching Shibari workshops in the UK, US and Spain for the past 8 years.
